How cells decide on their fate? (OR: Challenges in single cell imaging
informatics)
Iftach Nachman, TAU
Abstract:
How do cells decide on to switch their state? Why do similar cells
make different decisions? I will describe two projects dealing with
this question in two systems: entry into meiosis in yeast cells, and
reprogramming to pluripotency in mammalian cells. The projects are
based on high-throughput live cell imaging of the processes. I will
emphasize computational questions: What can we learn from single cell
image data? What computational challenges are involved? What
computational tools can we use?
